Music is Art Festival Comes to Buffalo State University
Music is Art, Buffalo State University, and the Buffalo AKG Art Museum have announced that this year’s Music is Art Festival will be held on the Buffalo State and Buffalo AKG campuses on Saturday, September 21. This return to Buffalo’s Elmwood Arts area highlights Music is Art’s connection to the city’s rich artistic traditions.
Since its founding by Goo Goo Dolls bassist and Buffalo native Robby Takac in 2003, the Music is Art Festival has served as a showcase of Western New York talent and a celebration of artistic community. This year will be no different; the festival promises a diverse mix of music, art installations, live performances, and interactive experiences.
“SUNY Buffalo State University is pleased to be part of Music is Art 2024,” said Lisa Krieger, interim vice president for management and operations. “As a diverse and inclusive urban campus that inspires a lifelong passion for learning, creative activity, and cultural enrichment, the alignment between our organizations’ missions is clear.”
“AKG and Buffalo State are not just venues; they are symbols of the rich artistic heritage and vibrant community spirit that this festival celebrates,” said Music is Art founder Robby Takac. “We’re committed to creating an immersive experience that highlights the incredible talent of Buffalo’s artists, musicians, and creatives.”

Durand, Ph.D. “I thank Robby Takac, Music is Art, and all our other community partners, along with our Buffalo State staff who worked to make this possible.”
