Students Create ‘Giving Trees’

Members of Buffalo State’s Student Philanthropy Council (SPC) and other student organizations united in February to wrap more than 20 trees along Rockwell Road with colorful bands of fabric donated by the Alumni Association. The purpose of the project was to bring attention to the SPC’s 2017 giving campaign, which is devoted to raising awareness and funds for the Maud Gordon Holmes Arboretum.

At its peak, the arboretum contained nearly 1,700 trees and shrubs, but hundreds have been lost over the years and need to be replaced. The SPC has partnered with United Students Government and the Friends of the Maud Gordon Holmes Arboretum to raise funds to return the arboretum to its former glory.
